East London is the home of many Indian Restaurants and eating houses but the trick is finding the ones that do it properly. There are many restaurants side by side in many places, but only a few do right with food, service and quality, the things i look for when i'm dining out.

I am a foodie and this is my quest for quality indian dining in East London.

Dishoom is probably the number one north indian/irani concept restaurants in London today.

The original Irani inspired cafes of Bombay have almost all disappeared. Their faded elegance welcomed all: rich businessmen, sweaty taxi-wallas and courting couples. Fans turned slowly. Bentwood chairs were reflected in stained mirrors, next to sepia family portraits. Students had breakfast. Families dined. Lawyers read briefs. Writers found their characters.
Opened early last century by Zoroastrian immigrants from Iran, there were almost four hundred cafés at their peak in the 1960s. Now, fewer than thirty remain. Their loss is much mourned by Bombayites.

Dishoom Shoreditch is the most popular Indian resataurant in London today. Their cuisine has been passed down from the old Bombay Style north indian restaurants and the restuarants food, service and overall ambience are second to none

From the south of India comes Dosa, Idli and an entire range of health conscious cuisines that date back a few thousand years. This cuisine is becoming more popular in the United States and England. It is well known for its ayurvedic properties and the health one is blessed with after following a vegetarian diet.
Chennai Dosa is the premier establishment worlwide for Dosa and South Indian cuisine and my personal favourite is this restaurant in High Street North.
Their chefs are clearly well trained in producing these items and the restaurant has reputation for producing authentic south indian food amongst the local tamils, tourists from europe and the central london dining crowd.

I would highly recommend this restaurant as they have the best south indian food and service available today in London.

South India is the home of curries in India, the spices that are used like turmeric and coriander are ayurvedic in nature and actually have a positive effect on the digestive system.

The entire dining experience is heightened by the fact that, when done properly, any kind of dish can be cooked 'ayurvedically' or in a way thats healthy for the body.

I've dined in most of the good places in london and chennai, so my job is to single out the best places with the best tasting, authentic, food.

What makes the difference is that there is no such thing as a 'sauce' . Curries are cooked from scratch, different condiments requiring different cooking times, a very complex procedure that can t ake years to learn, longer to master..
